CanSat 2015 – EpoxySat
Epoxy Sat was SDSL’s submission to the 2015 AIAA CanSat Competition. The special requirements this year were to design a rotary-based descent system while stabilizing a camera on the bottom of the CanSat. This was a challenging requirement which enabled our members to get real hands-on experience. Our members developed a custom blade design along with a hand-built avionics package for the CanSat. This year the ground station hardware and software was redone and was operational during flight.
2015 was also the first year SDSL launched test rockets before competition. Some photos of the test launch along with photos of the final competition can be seen below.
